manufacturing in China- Zhuhai

Manufacturing in China offers thousands of opportunities. Knowing its cities better can help making the right choice of supplier with experience in your specific field of production.
China 2 West has sales and support offices around the world and multiple quality control and engineering locations within China, predominantly positioned close to manufacturing hubs. We want to provide a short introduction of the Chinese cities we’re operating in and show the city’s specializations of production.

The last city introduced for our city guide is the beautiful city of Zhuhai. China 2 Wests’s headquarter is located in Zhuhai and that is for a good reason. Zhuhai is located in the southern part of Guangdong province, which was ranked the largest economy in China in terms of GDP in 2012. Lying in the western bank of the Pearl River Delta, it borders the South China Sea to the south. Zhuhai has a subtropical marine climate, with sufficient sunlight and abundant rainfall. The city covers an area of 1,724 square kilometer and has a population of around 1.5 million inhabitants. Zhuhai’s located at the border of Macau, near Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Zhuhai has four different major development zones counting the Zhuhai Free Trade Zone, Zhuhai High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Zhuhai Macau Cross-border Industrial Zone and Zhuhai Gaolangang Port Economic Zone.

Zhuhai’s pillar industries are petrochemicals, information technology, electronics, energy, precision machinery and bio-pharmaceuticals. Other specializations available are biology, clean energy, warehousing, logistics, export processing, machinery, pharmaceuticals and textiles.

The city’s GDP accounts to 186.72 billion RMB which amounts to a per capita GDP of 116,537 RMB. Exports are 29,015 and imports 25,944, which gives a trade balance of 3,071 million dollar. Foreign direct investment is 1,931 million dollar.

The history of Zhuhai can be traced back to the Neolithic Age, when the ancient people were living in the area of what is currently known as Zhuhai four-to-five-thousand years ago. In Qin Dynasty (221-206BC), the government set up an administrative department in the region. In 1980, Zhuhai established Zhuhai Special Economic Zone. Lingnan Culture is prevailing in the city.
