Geography

Zhuhai City, set up in 1979, is situated in the southern part of Guangdong Province, P.R. China. It is 140 km away from Guangzhou, stands on the western bank of the Pearl River estuary, and is adjacent to the South China Sea, borders Hong Kong and Shenzhen to the east by 36 nautical miles and Macao to the south by land. It lies between North Latitude 21° 48′~22°27′ and East Longitude 113°03′~114°19′, The land area covers 1,653 km² and the sea area,6,000 km², including 146 islands.

 

Population

Zhuhai has about 2.46 million inhabitants at the end of 2021 with many of its highly educated and talented citizens coming from different regions of China, In the past 20 years, locals and new immigrants to the city have worked shoulder to shoulder and hand in hand to build their home together and make it a modern comfortable city in which to live and raise their children.

 

Climate

In Zhuhai, winter and summer monsoons alternate obvious. High temperature lasts all year long, accidentally there appears cold weather, but winter is not too cold and summer is not extremely hot. Actually, Zhuhai has small temperature difference and has the subtropical maritime monsoon climate.

 

Economy

Owing to its scientific and rational urban planning and sustainable and rapid economic growth, Zhuhai City becomes one of the most suitble cities for human sttlement for which it reputed at home and abroad. According to statistics, the per capita annual disposable income and GDP of Zhuhai City rank first among medium-sized and large cities in the country. Urban residents of Zhuhai City are culturally advanced and well-off and live and work in peace and contentment.

With the population of 1,2 million, Zhuhai is a relatively small city in comparison with some of the cities in China. Zhuhai was one of the first original Special Economic Zones established in the 1980’s. Zhuhai is one of China’s most popular tourist destinations due to its clean city, over 168km of coast line and 146 islands within Zhuhai’s territory. Zhuhai borders Macau, one of China Special Administrative Regions, at the south of the city.

Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is an extraordinary engineering achievement. Spanning approximately 55 kilometers, it is the world’s longest sea crossing and includes a series of bridges, tunnels, and artificial islands. This bridge has drastically reduced travel time between Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macau, from several hours to just about 30 minutes. This has had a profound impact on the movement of people and goods, facilitating easier trade and tourism flows.

 

Zhuhai Airport Expansion

The expansion of the Zhuhai Jinwan Airport is set to increase its capacity, further integrating the city into regional and global air transport networks. By enlarging its airport, Zhuhai is positioning itself as a more prominent player in international air transport.
