Key information at a glance:

Country of origin: India

Internship Position: Project Engineer

Internship Duration: 1 year

Who I am:

I worked as an intern at C2W Services for a year as a part of my sandwiched course. Whilst pursuing Aerospace Engineering at Coventry University, I was really keen on taking up a yearlong internship following my second year to further my skills and gain valuable experience. When an opportunity presented to work in China, I embarked upon that journey with a mixed bag of feelings but eventually it turned out to be the best decision of my life which enriched me both at an intellectual and personal level.

What I learned at C2W:

I was designated as a Project Engineering Intern and C2W introduced me into any array of engineering projects which ranged from simple products to ones which were technically challenging. The C2W team is extremely amicable and knowledgeable, providing a perfect atmosphere to work unhindered. From day one my superiors took me under their wing and I was able to absorb a great deal in manufacturing techniques and project management. I felt immensely docile following my internship which enabled me to priotise tasks better furthermore having being exposed to varied engineering skills influenced a lot during my final year project. I successfully implemented smart solutions to otherwise challenging issues and was able to obtain high grades at University.

What makes China 2 West special for me:

For me, what makes China2West so unique is that, it is successfully able to bridge the gap between the east and the west delivering quality products using Chinese manufacturing. The process is daunting in a more generic sense but C2W is equipped with a brilliant team, support mechanism and the belief in people which makes it successful as an entity. My colleague and I came conceived a project ‘Adapt’ during my intern tenure and C2W fully supported us and believed in our idea and continues to do so.

On completing my internship, I went back to the UK to complete my under-graduation. Following my undergrads I flirted with other ideas but my affinity to work for C2W and Adapt was overwhelming and gives me great pleasure that now I am a full time Project Engineer at C2W.

Why Zhuhai’s a great spot:

I feel ashamed to admit but I belonged to a more stereotype campaign prior to my visit to China which extended to the Great Wall, Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. However, my perspective was completely remoulded and it drew a different level of appreciation all together. The Chinese are very friendly and even though the language acted as a barrier but by blending cultures and ideas I believe we were able to dissolve any boundaries. Zhuhai is sweetly located in the greatest manufacturing hub in the world yet away from the regular hustle and bustle of the factories rather more in the peripheral region of Guangdong enjoying a beautiful coastline. If I’d fancy a nice night out, Zhuhai is stone’s throw away from Macau and Hong Kong, having said that Zhuhai itself is a very vibrant city habouring a strong foreign crowd. People in Zhuhai are very accommodating and greet always with a smile which makes it totally worth it.
