Where is Zhuhai?
Zhuhai is a prefecture-level city located in the southwest Pearl River Delta estuary in Guangdong Province.
Zhuhai’s main advantage over other cities derives from its unique strategic position. The city adjoins Macau on its south and connects with Hong Kong through the Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai Bridge. With convenient and comfortable transportation with an intercity railway, Zhuhai is around one to two hours from Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, and Shenzhen.

The Growing Timeline Of Zhuhai

The Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) was formally approved in 2014 and was officially launched in 2015, which covered the Hengqin Area of Zhuhai.
The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge, the world’s longest sea-crossing bridge, opened to traffic in October 2018 marks Zhuhai the only city in mainland China that is connected to both Hong Kong and Macau, which is creating a multiplier effect within the region.
And in February 2019, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council officially issued theOutline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which signified a new milestone in the development of the Greater Bay Area.
Aside from government support, the city gains investment from many foreign companies.
In recent years, more than 12,000 projects from 70 countries have combined for nearly US$13 billion in utilized foreign direct investment.
Zhuhai reached a 3% growth with a GDP of RMB 348.19 billion in 2020 ($53.85 billion). The number showcases that Zhuhai has the potential and gift to gain rapid growth and development in the near future.

Hengqin New Area
Hengqin New Area, located in the southeast Zhuhai, is intended to boost and diversify the trade cooperation between mainland and Macao, which is heavily focusing on gambling.
Since the FTZ Hengqin New Area came into operation in 2015, it has enjoyed great expansion with the favorable treatment of preferential policies including high tax rebates, import duty, and value-added tax exemption, and 24-hour customs clearance. Therefore, it would be beneficial for international enterprises to set their headquarters or subsidiaries in Hengqin.
Additionally, Hengqing currently spares no efforts to improve infrastructure facilities, attract talents, and enhance collaborative development.
Zhuhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone
Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development District, including four industrial parks: Nanping, Sanzao, Baijiao, and Xinqing and an innovation coast, was established to be a state-level development zone in December 1992. The main part of the hi-tech zone is located in Tangjiawan Town, the northern Zhuhai.
In recent years, the Hi-Tech Zone continually supports integrated circuits (IC) as a pillar industry. Last year, A 14th Five-Year Plan was issued to announce to foster integrated circuit industrial cluster within 5 years.
